Here are a few tricks to keep your moisture sealed in.

Hook up the humidifiers and get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out.

Ban super hot baths. Sure, soaking in a burning-hot bath feels great after being out in the cold. But the intense heat of a hot shower or bath actually breaks down the protective lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture. You’re better off with just warm water, and staying in the water a shorter amount of time.

Seal in the moisture after your shower or bath. Apply coconut oil while your skin is still damp.

Slather on the Sunscreen! No, sunscreen isn’t just for summertime. Winter sun – combined with snow glare – can still damage your skin. Try applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your face and your hands (if they’re exposed) about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply frequently if you stay outside a long time.

Moisturize from the inside out. Be sure your getting enough of the essential fatty acids in your diet. Essential fatty acids are a big component of the outer membrane that keeps water inside each cell. Both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are needed in sufficient quantities to maintain moist skin.

Studio Phi has a wonderful organic coconut oil for skin, and a great omega 3,6,9 complex to supplement your diet. Stop by Studio Phi to get stocked up, let’s get your dry winter skin back in balance.

Here are some of my suggestions you can try, to relieve the fluid retention around your eyes.
If allergies are bothering you, try taking an anti-histamine before bed. Also shower before bed to remove any pollen you might of colleted throughout the day. Using an air purifier in your bedroom will help remove dust, pollen and other irratants that cause allergies.
Try decreasing your sodium intake especially in the evening. Soy sauce is high in sodium. Fast food and package food are also generally high in sodium. People report decreased fluid retention when sticking to a “Clean Eating” diet that consists of lean protein, fresh vegetables and whole grains.
Newton law of gravity holds true when comes to sleeping on your side or face! Fluid flows down hill not uphill. Try getting use to sleeping on your back with your head elevated, this way gravity can work in your favor and the fluid will be deminished in your face in the morning. If you don’t have an adjustable bed you can place blocks under the frame at the head of the bed. Use a couple of pillow under your head to elevate your head even more and pillows propped under your knees can helps prevent strain on your back while positions on your back.

Look, Feel and Think Younger

Maybe you’ve heard that 50 is the new 40, 40 is the new 30 which is the new 20, etc. Want to live this way? Being more youthful depends on several things: the way you feel, the way you look and perhaps most important, the way you think you feel and look. That’s a mouthful but look at these suggestions

The way you feel affects how you age

The most concrete way of staying young is feeling healthy inside and out. Here are some ways to feel young:
•Nutrition: Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ, so taking care of it from the inside is important. Eat a diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, a moderate amount of low-fat proteins, some whole grains daily and a minimum intake of processed foods. As an anti-inflammatory and skin protector, add some Omega-3 rich foods, such as fish, walnuts, avocados, etc., to your menu.
•Sleep and Stress: Get plenty of the former and reduce the latter. It’s not always easy but reducing stress and getting plenty of rest are important parts of feeling good.
•Smoking: Statistics clearly tell us of the dramatic health risks associated with smoking but did you know you can expect dull, discolored skin with loss of elasticity that manifests deeper wrinkles. Yikes!

The way your skin looks affects how you age

When guessing someone’s age, we usually look at their face first. So what does our face show others? Some factors we have from birth and they can’t be changed, like genetics and skin color. Focus on things you can change:
•Sun exposure: UV rays, brought to us by the sun, breakdown collagen and elastin which promotes wrinkles. To combat this, become an everyday sunscreen user. Choosing a moisturizing sunscreen such as Image Skincare’s Daily Defense collection combines efforts for young-looking skin.
•Repeated facial expressions: Facial wrinkles begin with facial expressions and those that are repeated daily bring about more wrinkles. It may sound silly but give your face a break with a short pause to de-stress and even try on some new expressions. Use Image Skincare’s Max line with argireline, a Botox®-like element that relaxes and can reverse facial wrinkles.

The way you think you feel and look affects how you age

Do you cringe when someone asks your age? Before it happens again, picture yourself at an age that represents youthfulness and vitality. Visualize yourself that age, and work towards it!

Then, the next time somebody inquires your age, ask back, “What age do you think I am?” That’ll bring powerful feedback! Whatever they answer, just smile and say, “Close”. If they’ve chosen your “decided age,” keep up the good work! If not, think again about your skin and what more you can do to improve it

At Image Skincare you’ll find plenty of amazing organically derived products that give beautiful skin. Where to start? Today we’re going to share the basics of a quality skincare routine in order to get you the best results. A little discipline will help your skin look beautiful year round!

Cleanse

Begin by selecting the best cleanser for your skin type. It is important to avoid soaps and cheap cleansers as they tend to dry out or otherwise harm your skin. Spending a bit more on your cleansing treatment is well worth it and will provide benefits for years to come.

Be sure to read the instructions for how to use your cleanser, some may be wiped off with a cotton ball and others may be rinsed with warm water. Never use cold or hot water as these can cause broken capillaries.

Cleanse at the end of the day to get rid of makeup and the day’s grime. It helps the skin rejuvenate overnight. Some ladies also like to cleanse in the morning, especially those with oily skin but be careful not to over cleanse as it can upset the balance of the skin’s natural emollients.

Exfoliate

Many people often overlook exfoliation as part of their weekly skincare routine but they are missing out on a powerful tool to help the skin look young and healthy. Regular exfoliation helps rid the face of tired skin cells and bring the energetic ones to the surface. With so many exfoliation types from basic scrubs to professional treatments, it can be challenging to find what is right for you. Speak to your skin care expert for a recommendation.

Anti-age

Keeping skin soft and smooth has been desired for eons in order to keep skin looking young. Moisturizing is an important part of a basic routing. Knowing your skin type is critical when choosing a moisturizer. There are products that benefit oily, dry, combination or acne-prone skin. Getting a skin analysis from your skin care professional will help you identify your perfect type of moisturizer.

Also, remember to treat those beautiful eyes with special care. The delicate skin surrounding them will appreciate a specially formulated cream.

Protect

One of the most damaging and aging items around us is the sun. Whether we live in a cloudy or sunny climate, applying sunscreen to your face daily is critical for long term vitality. Besides causing wrinkles, overexposure to the sun can damage skin from mild to severe. The quick and effective way to take care of your facial skin is to choose a moisturizer that contains SPF. Use it every morning and your skin will love you back.

Taking a few minutes a day with high quality skin products will help you look younger and feel better. Check out the product lines by Image Skincare today.

Are you plagued with puffy eyes that are making you look tired, old and unhealthy? Fluid retention around the delicate eye tissue can result from a variety of culprits: Allergies, sodium intake and sleeping positions to name a few. I will be sharing some of my tried and true tricks over the next few weeks, you can put them to the test and banish your eye bags.

Use an eye cream with caffeine. You know what caffeine does for our bodies and our minds, it stimulates us and helps us to wake up. In a way, caffeine in an eye cream does the same thing for your skin, it stimulates the delicate tissue. It helps to tighten the skin by reducing the amount of moisture in the cells that cause bags. Once it enters the tissue beneath the skin, it gives your natural collagen a boost and forces it to start creating more collagen, giving a firm look to the skin. Caffeine doesn’t just stop there. It also increases blood flow through the capillaries which also helps the skin and tissue repair itself and can reduce dark circles under the eyes. Eye cream that contains caffeine will give your eyes the glow of youth while decreasing wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness around the eyes naturally. You do have to use it regularly and maintain a regimen that includes it daily to keep the effects.

At Studio Phi we offer two great eye topical treatments that contain caffeine. Age Reversal Eye Complex by Dermalogica and Ormedic Balancing Eye Lift Gel by Image. Start incorporating caffeine in your daily eye cream regime and send you eye bags packing!
